Contingency Plan in the Event of an Illness
- In the event a child exhibiting illness and the child is already in school, the classroom teacher must call the main office or Corona. If a student exhibits symptom of fever or possible COVID-19 virus infection during class, the classroom teacher should report it to the designated school staff in the main office. A staff member will pick up the student and escort the student to the designated isolation room which is room 209 (next to the nurse’s office).
- The school nurse will evaluate the student and if the nurse determines the child is exhibiting symptoms of possible COVID-19 virus infection, the parent/guardian will be contacted Teachers must ensure at least 2 working numbers on the student blue emergency card / Skedula account.
- The student should remain isolated from other students and staff until they are able to leave the
- Child’s name, class, time will be logged into school record book,
- Parent/guardian cannot come inside of school building for safety reasons. Parent/guardian should stay by the main entrance. The student will be escorted from isolation room to where the parents is located. The parent/guardian will be instructed to call the healthcare provider to follow up with local health clinic or urgent care center.
- Per current DOE policy, any individual showing signs of COVID-19 can only return when all the following conditions are met:
- Received a positive COVID-19 test AND
- Isolated for 10 days AND
- Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND
- The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of
OR
- Received a negative COVID-19 test AND
- Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND
- The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of
OR
- Never got a COVID-19 test AND
- At least 10 days since symptoms started AND
- Presents clearance from a healthcare provider AND
- The individual has been symptom free for 24 hours without the use of
