Principal’s Message Week March 5, 2018

Dear Mott Hall Community,

Welcome back from Winter Break.  Hope it was relaxing and full of recreation.  It’s amazing how quickly time goes by.  We are already in March and into our 3rd marking period.  Organization is essential for success.  Support students by making sure they are using planners effectively for time management and completing assignments.  Continue to review Pupil Path to monitor your child’s progress.

Report Cards will be distributed at Parent Conferences on March 6th during afternoon (12:30 – 3:00) and evening (4:30 – 7:30) hours.  We request your presence to receive your report card, speak to teachers and receive information on upcoming events.

Students will received The Learning Environment Surveys to be completed by parents/guardians.  This is an important opportunity to offer feedback on school practices, rigorous curriculum offered, resources, support and communication.  The deadline to return the surveys is March 9th.  Homerooms that return the most amount of surveys, will receive a Dress Down Day.  In addition, the homeroom that returns the highest number of surveys will receive a pizza party reward.  We need your survey responses!

Special congratulations to scholars who excelled this marking period and are on the Honor Roll. We are so proud of you and your dedication.  A list of honorees will be shared in the next message.

We are well into the third marking period, it is important for scholars to focus on their academics and to continue to work to the best of their ability. Academic tools are provided daily. Encourage your children to take advantage of seeking help with their teachers, tutoring, Saturday Academy, and Regents Prep.

Our Science Night will be taking place on March 13, 2018.  It is a fun-filled night where families participate in science experiments, learn science facts and learn about student dynamic projects.  The event highlights the science learning in our school.  Science Night runs from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  Families are invited!

Our PTA meeting will taking place on March 21, 2018.  Join us to plan our upcoming Spring Event for Families!

Our Student Council has been ‘working around the clock’ planning Spirit Week 2018.  It will take place during the week of March 25th.  Stay tuned for more details.

We are deeply committed to the future of our students.  We ask you take advantage of Parent Outreach Tuesday. Our teachers are available to meet with parents on Tuesday from 2:10 p.m. -3:20 p.m., by appointment please.

All students shine at Mott Hall. I am honored to say that this is also apparent to the outside community. What a privilege to bestow this great honor on our students.  Congratulations to them, their families and teachers! Students will be honored at our Holiday Concert next week.  We look forward to honoring more members next marking period.

On Friday December 1st, our scholars participated in a Poetry Slam.  What a proud moment! Two of our 7th grade students won the competition.  Congratulations Luna Ulterio and Jerermy Rosario!

There will be a PTA Holiday Dinner Dance on Friday, December 15th.  The PTA needs volunteers to chaperone and support by bringing a dish.  We would really like you to join us for this very special event.  It is going to be fun!  We will have food, dinner, music and a contest.  Please contact Ms. Moran for more information or to share your support (participation or food).

Invite family members or friends who are interested in attending to call the school to make arrangements to join a tour.
