DESIGN THINKING SESSION ON APRIL 13, 2021 FROM 3:00 TO 4:30 PM

Dear Parents, 
 
We are excited to share that we have an upcoming Future Connect Session on Tuesday, April 13 from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm!
 
We are continuing with our series of sessions where students get an opportunity to interact with professionals and get an exposure to different careers. The Nanotechnology + Chemistry session on March 9th was a big success! Students were fascinated by the field of Nanotechnology (the science of very small things) and were excited to watch live experiments in Chemistry.
 
The next session is on the current and important topic of Design Thinking . The concept of Design Thinking is being applied in every field from large companies to schools to social issues. It is a way of understanding the needs of people and coming up with solutions. Elena Habre who is an architect and designer by training, has done extensive work in design thinking. She will talk about her work in Lebanon Ecuador where she used the principles of design thinking to solve problems in the community. She will also talk about her experience with Khan Academy. We will then do some activities to help students get an appreciation of the design thinking process.

NANOTECHLOGY+ CHEMISTRY FAMILY EVENT

 

Nanotechnology + Chemistry Fred Pearsall is a PhD in Nanotechnology, he will take us through his professional journey, show some videos on Nanotechnology and explain the science embedded in the video. Typical FutureConnect sessions are on Saturdays from 9:30 to 12:20 at the school. Sometimes we go on a visit like we went to the Metropolitan Hospital. 

Biomedical Engineering

In this session conducted by Maya Bakshi, students invented devices to unblock clogged arteries using wire and wire mesh, balloons and pumps, tin foil etc. They also built prosthetic limbs with tubes, sponges, duct tape, and card board.
